About the Business
Alan Young set up a sole practitioner practice in 1986, having completed a BSc degree in Building Surveying at Leicester Polytechnic, and became an Associate Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 1984. Alan was born in Yeovil and educated in the locality, and therefore has a good understanding of the local environment, needs and amenities. The practice was originally based in a small office at the back of a local glove factory on Seaton Road but moved to the now established location at The Lodge, Penn Hill, Yeovil in 1991. The practice became a limited liability company in 2003.
We are able to provide a prompt and professional service for a whole range of projects irrespective of size, from the architectural design of small extensions to dwelling houses and refurbishment of period listed buildings through to the design of modern traditional or modern contemporary housing.

I had Alan J Young come to survey my property. In his report, he claimed that a concrete barn in my garden "COULD" become unstable due to the lack of wind bracing. When I asked him to evidence this as the barn had been up since the 70's and showed absolutely no signs of movement, he chose not to answer me. I have since, seen numerous barns like mine on my travels as well as on the internet with no "wind bracing" and are all still standing. This statement naturally frightened off the buyers who had a young family. If you are having your house surveyed by this so-called professional, then I would strongly advise you to seek an alternative surveyor.
